Kasey Kahne’s case for making the Sprint Cup increased massively after Kahne finished first in a big race on Sunday in Atlanta.

Earlier, Kahne found himself at eleventh overall in the chase for the cup, but this victory jumped him five places, all the way into sixth place. With the playoffs composed of 12 racers and simply one race remaining until the playoffs are set, Kahne’s chances of making the post-season look markedly safer than they formerly did.

At some point in the course of the race, it seemed like it was Kevin Harvick’s race to victory Harvick, who came up victorious at the Nationwide race the night before, was looking great until Clint Bowyer came into trouble with merely 15 laps left. Bowyer, Harvick’s teammate, ruined his chances for winning the race, as Kahne took advantage of the caution and won by just under two seconds.

Harvick, who concluded in second place, just fell short of his 1st win during the ’09 race year. ending up in 3rd place was Juan Pablo Montoya, who is now striving for his 1st playoff berth and looks like he may be able to make it happen.

Kahne was with the race overall. Pleased with the car, he attributed his magnificence in the race to the car’s attributes – and naturally, a little assistance with respect to Kevin Harvick’s troubles.

Coming in 6th at the race was Denny Hamlin. With this finish, Hamlin is presently the fourth NASCAR driver to secure a playoff entry in the chase for the cup. Hamlin joins Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and as it should go without saying, Jimmy Johnson, who has won the most recent three seasons.

When asked regarding his chances, Kahne showed great confidence.

Having had the privilege of a great performing vehicle during the race, Kahne credits its sturdiness to his success in the race.

Although there was a little change among the twelve seeds for the Chase, nobody was removed from the top twelve this past weekend. The lead is held by Tony Stewart, with Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson just back. Additional racers include Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, Kasey Kahne, and five more. Occupying the thirteen and 14 slot are Brian Vickers and Kyle Busch, who both really need big performances next weekend if they want a chance at the championship.
